a Fay Jones School of Architecture Student Competition
EVENT: SoMa Community Center Design Competition
DATE: June 13th, Second Friday Art Night
LOCATION + TIME: studioMAIN, 1423 Main Street + 5:00 to 9:00 pm
Join us on Friday June 13th for the unveiling of this year’s student finalists for the annual Main Street Design Competition, sponsored by local architecture firm, WER Architects, and led by Fay Jones School of Architecture professors Dr. Tahar Messadi and Alison Turner, AIA.
This year’s competition focused on South Main Street and involved the creation of a theoretical SoMa Community Center + Natatorium! (otherwise known as a “swimming pool”) The proposed site for the structure is the corner of South Main and Daisy Bates, where the EZ Mart and Oxford America parking lot currently reside.
This will be a fascinating event filled with great design and even better conversation. Be sure to come out, enjoy a drink on us, and vote for your favorite design!
