DESCRIPTION:studioMAIN presents:\nSoMa Community Center\na Fay Jones School of Architecture Student Competition\nEVENT: SoMa Community Center Design Competition\nDATE: June 13th\, Second Friday Art Night\nLOCATION + TIME: studioMAIN\, 1423 Main Street + 5:00 to 9:00 pm \n  \nJoin us on Friday June 13th for the unveiling of this year’s student finalists for the annual Main Street Design Competition\, sponsored by local architecture firm\, WER Architects\, and led by Fay Jones School of Architecture professors Dr. Tahar Messadi and Alison Turner\, AIA.\nThis year’s competition focused on South Main Street and involved the creation of a theoretical SoMa Community Center + Natatorium! (otherwise known as a “swimming pool”) The proposed site for the structure is the corner of South Main and Daisy Bates\, where the EZ Mart and Oxford America parking lot currently reside. \n  \nThis will be a fascinating event filled with great design and even better conversation. Be sure to come out\, enjoy a drink on us\, and vote for your favorite design! \n\nABOUT studioMAIN\neducate | advocate | collaborate | challenge\nstudioMAIN is a design collective comprised of individuals from the design fields of Arkansas. This includes Architecture\, Landscape Architecture\, Interior Design\, Urban Design\, Furniture Design\, Industrial Design\, Public Art and the Construction Industries. studioMAIN works toward educating the general public about the role of good design in their daily lives\, and advocates the positive effects good design provides to a person\, a city and even ecosystems. studioMAIN works to establish and promote collaboration between the design fields and the craftsmen of our community.
