Washington Regional J.B. Hunt Transport Services Cancer Support Home

This new 8,600 square foot Cancer Support Home expands the nonprofit’s mission by providing a larger, more accessible building with additional overnight guest rooms. The facility includes administrative offices, 8 guest rooms with private bath rooms, a large great room with two kitchen stations, an expanded wig and prosthesis boutique, and a large private courtyard and pavilion.

Project Statement

Located near Washington Regional Medical Center’s main campus, the new Cancer Support Home provides its residents with a fully accessible and tranquil living environment. Tucked into a secluded, densely forested landscape, the home includes eight guest rooms to accommodate cancer patients and their companions while receiving treatment in the area. Along with natural views from interior and exterior spaces, communal spaces for relaxing, socializing, and dining are available to every guest. The building incorporates office space for its staff and private counseling space. A boutique equipped with mirrored vanities and dressing rooms is available for guests to receive wigs, accessories, and other clothing items. The building’s materiality captures the surrounding natural landscape by incorporating stone native to Arkansas as well as stained wood trusses and soffits found throughout interior and exterior spaces.
