The house on Eden’s Bluff is perched on top of the hill overlooking Beaver Lake, Arkansas. The clients wanted a lake home that would take advantage of lake views and use an open plan to use space efficiently.
Project Statement
The large expanses of glass are shaded by generous roof overhangs that protect it from both sun and rain. The L shaped home forms an auto court. Guests enter along stone walls that lead to a large oak door with custom pull. The large triangular clerestory uses light from the interior to act as a lantern, pulling guests into the heart of the house.
The living, kitchen, and dining room all share the large central space, with glass walls looking south to the lake. The office on the second-floor peaks down into the shared open space as well as the auto court though the triangular clerestory. Steel planters on the patio provide a kitchen garden very close to the kitchen. The primary bedroom is elevated from the landscape with a glass wall facing the lake. Curtains control views and the sun. The powder room uses a back lit circular mirror and custom stone sink to provide needed amenities. The primary bath uses a large high sill window to provide light while still providing some privacy.
