Centennial Bank ASU Welcome Center

Arkansas State University in collaboration with Centennial Bank has developed a student welcome and orientation pavilion and branch bank. The facility is at the terminus of the main entry drive into campus and is adjacent to the student union and dining hall and is one of the first buildings one experiences upon entering the ASU campus. Within the building there is a large greeting lobby with lounge furniture for future students and their parents to take a break from the grueling orientation pace. Public restrooms as well as refreshments are also available. Adjacent to the reception lobby is a video presentation room to introduce the perspective student to ASU. Also, within the lobby is an interactive branch bank with ATM serving the student body.

The building is located at the intersection of 4 primary pedestrian and primary campus vehicular circulation paths which is the primary influence on its dynamic composition. The lobby responds to the main circulation access for the campus and serves as a lantern for the front door to the campus at night. The exterior student lounge is elevated from the pedestrian pathways providing an overlook to the students walks and campus beyond and a place to gather. This patio is adjacent to the ASU red clad building component that contains support functions for the pavilion. ASU branding icons have been strategically located on the exterior providing photo opportunities for perspective students and their families as well as visiting alumni. The curved auditoriums shape is derived to accommodate the intersection of two primary pedestrian paths so as not to interfere with a successful flow of students.
