In a state where the prevalence of coronary artery disease, obesity and diabetes are within the top five states of every published report, it is important to increase access and convenience to proper heart health. Project Statement
The Arkansas Heart Hospital Encore Medical Center is a general acute-care hospital located in Bryant, Arkansas. The facility is approximately 108,000 square feet in size and includes 26 private inpatient beds, including 8 of which are critical care beds, 16 beds in a full-service emergency room, 2 cardiac catheterization labs, 2 hybrid operating rooms, a post anesthesia care unit, endoscopy suite, intensive cardiac rehabilitation, an outpatient clinic, and radiology imaging including MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, x-ray, and cardiac PET. The facility is designed with centralized nursing stations in each of the patient care areas to provide exclusively patient focused care. The design of the facility promotes staff efficiency by minimizing distance between frequently used spaces. The location of support services allows sharing by adjacent functional areas, minimizing risk of infection and positively impacting patient flow. The facility is constructed in compliance with regulations of Arkansas State Department of Health, CMS, and is accredited by The Joint Commission. In a state where the prevalence of coronary artery disease, obesity and diabetes are within the top five states of every published report, it is important to increase access and convenience to Arkansans. This hospital not only increases access, it does so with the lowest cost and highest quality of care. The rehabilitation the hospital provides, too, decreases the likelihood of future cardiac events and makes for a healthier community in a rapidly growing population core in the state with limited access to appropriate medical facilities within a reasonable distance. The master plan for the campus includes a medical office building and is to include a restaurant with patio seating connecting the building with the hospital, as well as a future hospital building expansion as a second phase covering the therapeutic roof terrace with 3-stories of expansions to the upper floors, and a parking deck to serve both buildings and potential future buildings on the Heart Hospital campus.
