Building Science for Architects.(CABS 2001) will cover the house as a system and the “why” that is behind the what and how. A high performance house that is comfortable with good air quality and low energy bills does not happen by accident. It is a combination of the components of the house and the way in which they interact that determine performance. Learn why those old wall sections don’t work in a high performance home. Learn the difference in best building practice and common practice and how to ensure best practice construction is specified in your designs. Learn how to ensure proper HVAC sizing and minimize duct leakage. What do you mean “define the thermal envelope?” Come see!
